Groove Woodworking Studio is a collective of artists and makers who find artistic inspiration in the endless beauty of Polynesian hardwoods. The passion for woodworking began early, but fully blossomed when they began creating artistic wooden furniture and art for themselves and their community.
The collective enjoys working with live edge slabs, or single pieces of wood milled when a tree is naturally felled. Each live edge slab captures the natural form and figure of the tree.
Always driven to explore their creativity through learning, the collective has recently expanded to work with eco-friendly epoxy to create stunning epoxy-wood creations that seems to have a life all its own. These live-edge collection pieces harness the natural strength of epoxy for structural durability, yet the endlessly colorful canvas of epoxy. Don't worry, we still create mainly single live edge slabs!
The collective proudly only uses locally and ethically-sourced hardwoods from Aotearoa and Polynesia. They have created pieces out of ancient Swamp Kauri, Koa, Macrocarpa, Japanese Cedar Monkeypod, Mango, Cuban Mahogany, Macadamia, Milo, and Monterrey Cypress- to name a few. The collective has an extensive supply of rare and common slabs, such as 20,000+ year old ancient Swamp Kauri.
Groove Woodworking Studio looks forward to helping you bring your visions to life!
